Admission is competitive and on a first-come, first-served basis; class sizes are limited, and under-enrolled classes will be cancelled. Applications are welcome at any time during the year.
Upon receipt of your application, we will send you the Self-Evaluation Admissions Assessment (SEAA), and a Piano Keyboard Background Survey. Your admission to The Chicago School for Piano Technology is not dependent on the results of the SEAA or the Keyboard Survey; they are simply tools for you and us as you begin your studies. Since the application process is time-sensitive for limited enrollment, applicants are urged to complete the process as rapidly as possible, including the SEAA and Survey.
When we receive the SEAA answer sheet (and Survey) from you, we will send you the results and analysis of the SEAA, and we will then ask you to schedule two interviews, preferably in person, one with the Director and Administrator of the School, and the other with the Tuning Faculty. After the interviews, we will provide you with the Student Handbook and Course Catalog, the 1st Quarter Required Tools and Books lists, and the Enrollment Agreement. We will also send a section preference sheet on which you may indicate the section you prefer.
Depending on the timing of your application and the enrollment in any given section of a class, you may find that it has been filled or cancelled. Cancellation of a section may happen up to the beginning of the term. Prepare to be flexible in your section preferences.
